I loved reading this, Eleanor. I work best to a deadline but I still insist on going through the motions of believing I need a lot of space and time to write. I've always known the opposite to be true, but I haven't been able to prove it as regularly as I have since I started writing on Substack. I set myself the target of writing one post a week and I'm almost at six months now without missing a post. I always say I'm the kind of person who doesn't have a lot of ideas but here I am writing something every week that I feel proud of enough to post. I definitely agree with you and Sian that writing encourages more writing, and I particularly liked what you said about considering your opinion on things you engage with on a daily basis more as a result.
A squall for attention
Loved reading this, and also really appreciated the links.
And now I'm going to sit here and reflect on my own inability to construct fiction.
